Chief Commercial Officer April Gill addresses health equity in an article on Managed Healthcare Executive. She notes that the objective isn’t only about extending care to underserved populations – it’s about delivering the right care where people already go, which in many cases is the pharmacy.
According to April, it’s well-known that pharmacists can administer vaccines and other types of acute care, but they are in position to do more, as they can further advocate for patients. April also shares that pharmacies are positioned to address food insecurity.
As April points out, as costs rise and the number of people in need further outpaces resources, it becomes more and more urgent to find ways to further extend services to those who need them, when and where they need them.
